Description
Full-thickness skin equivalents contain both a fibroblast-populated dermal compartment and a stratified epidermis, and they answer questions a reconstructed epidermis cannot: dermal-epidermal signalling, wound healing, long-duration repeated dosing and genotoxicity. They are also the only living tissue category where a supplier publishes a complete price list. Phenion's list, valid from 01.01.2024, covers the full range: the standard FT model and the FT INSERT at EUR 140 per single tissue at 1.4 cm diameter, FT LARGE at EUR 235 at 3.1 cm, FT SMALL at EUR 139 at 0.9 cm, FT AGED at EUR 150, and FT LONG-LIFE at EUR 190, with no minimum order and published volume discounts of 5 percent above EUR 3,000, 7 percent above EUR 6,000 and 9 percent above EUR 10,000. The media are priced too, and they teach something no quote-only supplier will show: standard air-liquid interface medium is EUR 75 per 250 mL while the phenol-red-free, hydrocortisone-free and antibiotic-free variants are EUR 110 each, a 47 percent premium for removing an agent. Phenion states 250 mL of ALI medium is sufficient to culture 6 models. NeoBioPharma publishes the other public figure in the category, its NeoEpidermis 3D skin model at $1,900.00 for NEP3D1-6 and from $3,500.00 for NEP3D1-12. Two things must be said plainly. Full-thickness models are not TG 439 methods, Phenion does not present them as such, and substituting one for a reconstructed epidermis in a regulatory skin irritation context is not an option. And FT LONG-LIFE at EUR 190 is not a cheaper EpiDerm: it is culturable for at least 50 days after arrival against EpiDerm's four-day shelf life, which is a different experimental capability entirely.
Why this is hard to buy today
The only published price list in the living tissue market belongs to a model that is not a regulatory substitute for the models buyers are usually comparing it against, so the one legible number in the category routinely gets used as a proxy for a product it cannot replace.

These are supplier list prices we located and recorded, not a quotation from Wetware World. Your price depends on quantity, specification and freight, and is only binding once issued in writing.
What you must specify
A quote cannot be produced without these. Anything you leave open, a supplier will assume, usually expensively.
| # | Parameter |
|---|---|
| 01 | Model variant (standard, INSERT, LARGE, SMALL, AGED, LONG-LIFE) and tissue diameter |
| 02 | Required culture duration after arrival, which is the main reason to choose LONG-LIFE |
| 03 | Number of tissues, worked against the published volume discount thresholds |
| 04 | Media variant (standard, phenol-red-free, hydrocortisone-free, antibiotic-free) and volume, at 250 mL per 6 models |
| 05 | Whether the endpoint requires a TG 439 or TG 431 validated method, which a full-thickness model is not |
| 06 | Franz cell or permeation hardware compatibility for delivery work |
| 07 | Delivery date and transit time against the production calendar |

| Phenion (Henkel) | The only complete public price list found from any supplier in the reconstructed tissue market: a downloadable PDF valid from 01.01.2024 covering models, cells, media and accessories, with published volume discounts. Production site Henkel, Duesseldorf. Captured 2026-09-01. |
| NeoBioPharma | Publishes per-unit prices for the NeoEpidermis 3D skin model in 6-well and 12-well formats. We could not independently confirm OECD validation status for this model, so it is priced evidence rather than regulatory evidence. Captured 2026-09-01. |
| MatTek (Sartorius) | Ships living, metabolically active 3D human epithelial tissue. The 2025 EpiDerm technical specification establishes the house pattern across the range: standard kit of 24 tissues, 9 mm and 22 mm inserts plus 96-well HTS, shipped at 4 C on medium-supplemented agarose gels on a fixed weekly cadence, shelf life of days including transit. No public price on any tissue SKU. |
| EPISKIN | Publishes the model range and application mapping for SkinEthic HCE (corneal), HGE (gingival), HO2E (oesophageal), HBE (bladder), HVE (vaginal) and the RHE epidermis family, with small, medium and large formats plus HTS 24-well and 96-well plates.
