Description
The recurring consumable in an organ-chip programme, quoted per chip rather than per box so platforms can actually be compared. AIM Biotech is the transparent end: an idenTx 40 plate carries 40 chips and an idenTx 9 carries 9, both with a 3D gel region flanked by media channels, and the idenTx 3 is a microscope-slide format with 3 experiments per chip. MIMETAS publishes no pricing at all; its OrganoPlate Graft 3-lane format carries 64 chips per plate with apical and basolateral access, is membrane-free using surface-tension PhaseGuide patterning, sits on a 150 um microscope-grade glass bottom in a microtitre footprint, and is perfused by the OrganoFlow rocker rather than by pumps or tubing. Emulate chips are proprietary and tied to the Zoe culture module; Chip-S1 additionally applies cyclic mechanical strain and Chip-R1 is sold on a low-absorption profile for ADME and toxicology. Material is a scoping decision rather than a detail: identical microdevices fabricated from eight polymers showed compound absorption differing by more than 1000-fold, with more than 99 percent of chlorpromazine partitioning into PDMS bulk within 24 hours against roughly 1500-fold lower absorption in PMMA and thiol-ene epoxy, which is why we insist any quote names the chip material and justifies it against your compound class. We also surface two commercial facts buyers miss: assay-ready versions of the same plate carry a large published uplift, and routing through a distributor costs a measured 7.4 to 8.9 percent on this range.
Why this is hard to buy today
Three of the five major organ-chip platforms publish no pricing of any kind, so buyers commit to a closed consumable ecosystem, there is no second source for an OrganoPlate, a Chip-S1 or a PhysioMimix plate, without ever seeing the per-chip number that determines whether the platform is affordable to run rather than to own.
Price evidence
Two evidence classes, kept separate. PUBLISHED LIST PRICES, AIM Biotech public store API live 2026-09-01: idenTx 40 Plate (IDTX40), box of 5 plates at 40 chips per plate, $2,220.00 = $444.00 per plate = $11.10 per chip; idenTx 9 Plate (IDTX9), box of 8 plates at 9 chips per plate, $690.00 = $86.25 per plate = $9.58 per chip; idenTx 3 Chip (DAX-1), box of 25 chips at 3 experiments per chip, $570.00 = $22.80 per chip = $7.60 per experiment; organiX Plate $410.00 (box of 1) and $1,110.00 (box of 3, $370.00 each); organiX Insert (OGNXI) box of 24 $420.00; idenTx Holder (HOL-2) $190.00; Luer connectors (LUC-1) $142.00; cooling block (CBLK) $260.00; AngioPrime assay-ready idenTx 40 pre-loaded with hTERT-immortalised HUVECs $1,470.00, an uplift of $1,026.00 or 231 percent over the empty plate; VasQ Kit for 1 idenTx 40 plate $790.00. DERIVED FIGURES, these come from named US federal contract awards on USAspending.gov and are UPPER BOUNDS rather than list prices, because the obligation may include shipping, warranty or unstated line items: MIMETAS OrganoPlate Graft, part 6401-400-B, $1,163.00 per plate DERIVED from award PIID 75N95021P00070 (NIH to MIMETAS, 2021-01-07, $29,075 for a stated 25 plates) and replicated exactly by award PIID 75N95020P00433 (NIH to MIMETAS, 2020-08-26, $23,260 for a stated 20 plates), which at 64 chips per plate is $18.17 per chip; Emulate Liver Human Emulation System 24-pack quad liver chip kits at $20,900.00 per 24-pack, or roughly $870.83 per kit unit, DERIVED from award PIID 75F40123P00207 (US FDA to Emulate, 2023-06-27, $104,500 for a stated 5 each). Emulate instrument pricing is NOT derived here: two awards describing an identical two-Zoe-CM2-plus-two-Orb configuration differ by 48 percent ($218,100 under 75F40122P00202, 2022-06-28, against $146,915 under 75F40123P00171, 2023-06-09), so the records establish only an envelope of roughly $147,000 to $354,000 for a Human Emulation System installation.
These are supplier list prices we located and recorded, not a quotation from Wetware World. Your price depends on quantity, specification and freight, and is only binding once issued in writing.
What you must specify
A quote cannot be produced without these. Anything you leave open, a supplier will assume, usually expensively.
| # | Parameter |
|---|---|
| 01 | Tissue model and the endpoint the chip must support (barrier, perfusion, vascularisation, grafting, ADME) |
| 02 | Chips or wells per plate required, and conditions per year after replicates and controls |
| 03 | Chip material, justified against the compound class (PDMS, COP, PMMA, thermoplastic, glass-bottom) |
| 04 | Perfusion mechanism the consumable requires: rocker, pumped recirculation or none |
| 05 | Imaging requirement and bottom thickness |
| 06 | Empty plate or assay-ready pre-seeded, and the published uplift accepted |
| 07 | Direct purchase or distributor routing, priced both ways |
| 08 | Volume curve requested at three annual quantities rather than one |
| 09 | Instrument, module, software licence and service contract quoted as four separate lines |
| 10 | Whether the finished-tissue alternative would answer the question at lower total cost |
Quality documentation
Typically available with this item. What actually ships is confirmed on the quotation, per supplier.
- Manufacturer certificate of conformance and lot number
- Stated chips per plate and channel geometry per the product specification
- Sterility status as supplied
- For assay-ready plates, the vendor's stated cell component and interface specification

| AIM Biotech | Public WooCommerce Store API returns live USD list prices per SKU across idenTx 3, idenTx 9, idenTx 40, organiX, AngioPrime, VasQ and accessories; queried 2026-09-01. Prices for the empty and pre-seeded versions of the same plate are both published, which is a rare and useful disclosure. |
| MIMETAS | Publishes platform specifications (40 to 96 chips per plate, three channels per chip, apical and basolateral access, membrane-free PhaseGuide patterning, 150 um microscope-grade glass) and no pricing. $1,163.00 per plate is derived from two USAspending awards with stated quantities, 75N95021P00070 and 75N95020P00433, which produce identical unit prices at different order sizes. |
| Emulate Inc | Publishes Chip-S1, Chip-R1, Chip-A1 and Chip-Array with BioKit and Guided model tiers, and no pricing. Quad liver chip kit at roughly $870.83 per unit is derived from award 75F40123P00207 with a stated quantity of five 24-packs; instrument records are internally inconsistent by 48 percent and no per-module price is derived. |
| MatTek (Sartorius), AIM Biotech distributor | Distributes the AIM Biotech range with its own published prices, live 2026-09-01, allowing the distributor spread to be measured directly at a consistent 7.4 to 8.9 percent across eight SKUs. |
