Core vocabularies
Every closed vocabulary in WWD 0.1, as data. A tool reads the permitted values from this file rather than from prose or from a schema enum.

Named subsets and defaults
Additional keys the registry carries alongside the value list.
| Vocabulary | Key | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| component_kind | non_living | scaffold, device |
| component_kind | spatial | contractile_tissue, neural_culture, tissue_construct, organoid, scaffold, device |
| shipping_state | living | live_ambient, live_refrigerated, live_perfused, live_co2_independent, live_gas_permeable |
| shipping_state | non_living_only | lyophilised, sterile_dry, hydrated_ambient |
| out_of_domain | default | error |
| interface_role | by_modality | mechanical: anchor, attachment_loop, bearing_surface, bonded_face, clamp_zone, load_boundary, tendon_end · electrical: combined, ground, recording, reference, stimulation · fluidic: inlet, outlet, perfusion_channel, port, reservoir, sterile_barrier · optical: combined, illumination, imaging_access, optical_readout, photostimulation |
| interface_role | note | Closed per modality where a worked case exists; open for chemical, informational and thermal, where 0.1 has none (1.2). |
| statistic | distributional | mean, median, sd, cv, proportion, yield |
| port_kind | from_modality | mechanical: mechanical · electrical: electrical · fluidic: fluidic · perfusion: fluidic · optical: optical · thermal: thermal |
| port_kind | must_be_declared | ground |
| port_kind | note | A port kind is determined by the interface modality except for `ground`, which no modality maps to and which MUST be declared as port_kind. A modality outside from_modality is reported, never defaulted: treating an unrecognised modality as mechanical is how an optical port comes to be bolted to a lever. |
| port_compatibility | symmetric | true |
| port_compatibility | note | The only pairs Core permits a connection between. ground:mechanical is what makes a fulcrum expressible. An extension introducing a transducer MUST declare the cross-kind pair it adds and MUST be in extensionsRequired. |
| connection_kind | note | 14.2 requires contact, bonded, pinned, clamped and prescribed-motion conditions to be distinguished. A connection with no kind is a stated adjacency, not a stated constraint, and a consumer MUST NOT infer one. |
| population_of | note | The superset a statistic's analysis population is drawn from. A rate over active electrodes and a rate over all electrodes are different quantities under one name. |
| quantity_kind | kinds | fraction: [object Object] · length: [object Object] · event_duration: [object Object] · event_rate: [object Object] · areal_density: [object Object] · order_parameter: [object Object] · areal_mass_density: [object Object] · ratio: [object Object] · velocity: [object Object] · frequency: [object Object] · area: [object Object] · temperature: [object Object] · time: [object Object] · categorical: [object Object] · modulus: [object Object] · count: [object Object] · impedance: [object Object] · signal_duration: [object Object] · composition: [object Object] · force: [object Object] · pressure: [object Object] · irradiance: [object Object] · wavelength: [object Object] · spring_constant: [object Object] · elapsed_time: [object Object] · number_density: [object Object] · stress: [object Object] · electric_field_strength: [object Object] |
| quantity_kind | note | A quantity kind fixes a dimension AND a scale of use, because units are never converted and two terms of one kind must be comparable exactly as written. That is why rates and durations are each split: frequency (Hz, a stimulus or spike train) against event_rate (per minute, a discrete biological event), and signal_duration (ms, a waveform feature) against event_duration (s, a biological event). The canonical unit of a kind is the unit that kind's literature reports in; a criterion a reader must convert to check against its source has moved the conversion, not removed it. |

vocabulary marked unknown_value: warning reports it and continues.
